Shaking table tests on a full scale bedroom

During the months of January and February, shaking table tests on a full scale bedroom will take place at LNEC, in Lisbon.

The tests are intended to simulate the seismic action that leads to the toppling or movement of common furniture in most homes.
For this simulation, the environment of the typical room of a teenager will be analyzed. Earthquake mitigation techniques to secure items and other elements will be tested to assess their effectiveness as self-protection against non-structural damage that occurs during an earthquake.
These tests will result in a awareness action film, which will be developed over the test days, to publicize protective actions and measures relating to non-structural elements and components.
